USEFUL
INFORMATION

Breadline is Hong Kong’s first public digital platform for food rescue.
It is a real-time web application that connects volunteers to bakeries to collect surpluses just-in-time for those who need it.

Food rescue can be very last-minute and messy Breadline provides volunteers with the right information at the right time to make every run count

Volunteers choose their own runs. Check-in for real time-updates. Rescue bread and enter final count!
Run based on your schedule or go where you are most needed!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to save bread. Miss the opportunity, the bread will go to waste in landfill. Save the bread, and we can help those in need.

Everyday 3200 tonnes of food waste gets dumped into landfills, that’s equivalent to 250 double decker buses!
While 20% of the population live in poverty.

Go to breadline.hk!
Sign in with your google credentials. If you have gmail – that account detail would work.
Enter your phone number – This is for our support team to provide live assistance on Whatsapp should you need it”

Tap on the pins to see bakery details including address and pick up time.

Tap “+” to ADD RUN and follow instructions to CONFIRM.
We recommend two to three runs/ per night but just do what you can manage!

Head to MY RUNS to view, edit or delete your runs.
Tap the bin icon to delete any unwanted runs

You MUST DELETE your runs if you can’t make it, this will release the shop and allow other volunteers to help out.

Tap on the bakery in MY RUNS and enter the number of bread you have collected.
Report how much bread you have saved and watch your records go!

Check-in on Breadline before you run, real-time updates shows you how much bread there is left 1hr before shops close.

“0” means the shops have sold out and you don’t have to go.
If your bakery is sold out, you can add others, there is no cut-off time.

Remember to claim the runs though – otherwise other volunteers would overlap.
Avoid empty runs and make every run count!

The map view shows you where there is most bread to collect – hit those dark green pins to help save more!

Remember to bring your own bags – 2 Ikeas bags usually work!

The “pick uptime tells you when the bread is ready for collection – be on time!
If you are runing late, call the shop and ask them to wait!

We have different drop-off locations on the island and Kowloon side.
Check drop off for details.
